The AIMB-788E supports Intel 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Core i9/i7/i5/i3 and Pentium/Celeron processors in an LGA1700 socket, paired with the Q670E or R680E chipset. Legacy platforms are not supported.
The board provides triple display output: 1 x VGA (up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz), 1 x HDMI (up to 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz), and 1 x DisplayPort (up to 4096 x 2304 @ 60Hz).
The board has 4 x 288-pin DIMM sockets supporting dual channel DDR5 5600, up to 192 GB total. The standard AIMB-788E-00A1 and -10A1 use non-ECC UDIMM, while the AIMB-788E-0RA1 version supports ECC UDIMM.
The AIMB-788E provides 4 internal SATA 3.0 channels with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 support, and an internal M.2 slot (PCIe x4 Gen 4, M-key, 2280 type). The AIMB-788E-10 version adds a second M.2 slot (1 x PCIe x4 Gen 4, 1 x PCIe x4 Gen 3, M-key 2280). Expansion slots include 1 x PCIe x1 (Gen 4), PCIe x4 slots, PCIe x8 slots, and 2 x PCIe x16 slots (Gen 5 x8 link and Gen 4 x8 link).
Power-on figures are based on an Intel Core i-series 65W CPU with 4 x DDR5 32 GB modules. Required voltage rails and typical currents are: +3.3V at 1.54 A, +5V at 1.96 A, +12V at 0.07 A, +5Vsb at 0.08 A, -12V at 0.04 A, and -5V at 0.01 A.
Operating temperature is 0 ~ 60 °C (32 ~ 140 °F), depending on CPU loading and system thermal solution. Non-operating (storage) temperature is -40 ~ 85 °C. Operating humidity is 95% at 40 °C non-condensing, and non-operating humidity is 95% at 60 °C non-condensing.
Rear I/O includes 8 USB ports (4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 4 x USB 2.0) and 1 x RS-232 serial port. Internal headers add 5 more USB ports (2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 2 x USB 2.0 via headers, 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A) and 5 more serial ports (4 x RS-232, 1 x RS-232/422/485).
The board measures 304.8 x 244 mm (12" x 9.6"), an ATX form factor.
All three versions use the same USB, SATA, COM, and GbE LAN counts, and support AMT and iBMC. The AIMB-788E-00A1 uses the Q670E chipset with non-ECC UDIMM DDR5 and 1 M.2 slot. The AIMB-788E-10A1 also uses Q670E with non-ECC UDIMM DDR5 but adds a second M.2 slot (2 total). The AIMB-788E-0RA1 uses the R680E chipset with ECC UDIMM DDR5 support and 2 M.2 slots.
The board has an SPI header for an optional dTPM 2.0 module (part number PCA-TPMSPI-00A1), which is required to enable TPM and vPro technologies. Intel PTT is also ready for Windows 11 support.
How-to Guides
- Order the optional dTPM 2.0 SPI module, part number
PCA-TPMSPI-00A1. - Install the dTPM 2.0 module onto the board's SPI header.
- Note that a dTPM 2.0 module is required to enable TPM technologies, and Intel PTT is ready for Windows 11 as an alternative if a physical module is not installed.
- Use Advantech's proprietary CPU cooler for the AIMB-788E, listed under optional accessories (part number
1970005349T000), rated for CPUs with a base power of 35~125W, for 2U, 4U, and wall-mount chassis. - Do not use other brands' CPU coolers, as they are not compatible with the AIMB-788E.
- Avoid coolers with a fan mounted to the side, since this type is not allowed due to heat dissipation requirements on the MOSFET.
