Frequently Asked Questions

What I/O ports does the GT-92RL-H have?

The GT-92RL-H provides:

  • 9x GbE Ethernet ports via M12 X-coded connectors (1x Intel I219-LM with Wake-on-LAN, 8x Intel I350-AM4)
  • 2x isolated CAN 2.0 ports (DB9)
  • 4x USB 3.2 Gen2x1 (10 Gbps) Type-A ports
  • 1x HDMI 1.4 port (up to 4096x2160) and 1x DisplayPort (up to 4096x2304)
  • 2x isolated 3-wire RS232/422/485 ports (COM1/COM2)
  • 4-channel isolated digital input and 4-channel isolated digital output (DB15)
  • 1x 3.5 mm 4-pole audio jack for mic-in and speaker-out
What are the power input requirements for the GT-92RL-H?

The GT-92RL-H accepts a wide-range 43V to 160V DC input via an M12 K-coded connector. The connector uses pins for two V+ and two GND wires plus a protective earth (PE) pin. Supplying a voltage over 160V will damage the system.

How much power does the GT-92RL-H consume?

Maximum power consumption figures documented for the GT-92RL-H (using an i7-12700 CPU) are:

  • 65W CPU mode: 141.4W (Max.) @ 24V, 146.4W (Max.) @ 48V
  • 35W CPU mode (i7-12700TE): 106.6W (Max.) @ 24V, 111.8W (Max.) @ 48V
What is the operating temperature range and what certifications does the GT-92RL-H hold?

With a 35W CPU, the GT-92RL-H operates from -40°C to 55°C, compliant with EN 50155 Class OT2. With a 65W CPU, the operating range is -40°C to 35°C. Storage temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, with 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity. For sub-zero operation, a wide-temperature HDD or SSD is required.

The system complies with EN 50155 mandatory tests (110V), EN 45545-2 (fire protection on railway vehicles), EN 50121 (EN 50155 EMC), IEC 61373 Category I Class B vibration/shock (body mounted), and CE/FCC Class A per EN 55032 & EN 55035.

What storage options does the GT-92RL-H support?

The system supports:

  • 1x M.2 2280 M-key NVMe socket (PCIe Gen4x4), rated up to 7000 MB/s read/write
  • 2x hot-swappable 2.5" HDD/SSD trays (supports up to 7mm thick drives), with RAID 0/1 supported across the two SATA drives
Which operating systems does the GT-92RL-H support?

Neousys has tested the following operating systems on the GT-92 series:

  • Microsoft Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (x64)
  • Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS, 22.04 LTS, 22.04.1 LTS, or other distributions with kernel version 5.15 or later

For Linux, users may need to manually compile and install drivers for the Intel graphics or I350-AM4 controller if not already included in the kernel, and graphics/RAID feature support may be limited depending on distribution.

What are the mounting options and dimensions of the GT-92RL-H?

The GT-92RL-H is a 2U 19" chassis measuring 440mm (W) x 250mm (D) x 88mm (H) (excluding rack-mount bracket), weighing 8.0 kg. It supports optional rack-mounting and wall-mounting via dedicated bracket kits (Rmkit-GT92 and Wmkit-GT92).

Does the GT-92RL-H support wireless or cellular connectivity?

The GT-92RL-H has 2x full-size mini-PCIe sockets, each with a SIM card slot. Installing a compatible mini-PCIe wireless (WiFi/5G/4G) module with a SIM card allows the system to access a cellular network. Multiple SMA antenna apertures are provided on the system panel for connecting external antennas.

Does the GT-92RL-H support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?

No. The datasheet lists PoE+ as "None" for the GT-92RL-H. This differs from the GT-92GC model in the same series, which does support IEEE 802.3at PoE+ on its Ethernet ports.

Can I configure a RAID volume on the GT-92RL-H?

Yes. With two 2.5" SATA HDDs/SSDs installed in the hot-swappable trays, the system supports RAID 0 (striping) or RAID 1 (mirror) configurations. RAID setup is done by first enabling the Volume Management Device (VMD) controller in BIOS, then creating a RAID volume through the Intel Rapid Storage Technology utility.

How-to Guides

Install an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD
  1. Power off the system, disconnect all cables and antennas, and remove the bottom panel by removing the indicated screws and prying open the panel using the hinges.
  2. Locate the heat spreader; the M.2 2280 M-key Gen4x4 NVMe slot is positioned underneath it.
  3. Remove the screws securing the heat spreader (both on top and at the back of the enclosure) and lift it off.
  4. Insert the NVMe SSD module into the M.2 slot at a 45-degree angle.
  5. Gently press the module down and secure it with an M3 P-head screw.
  6. If installing an NVMe SSD for the first time, remove the thermal pad protector film from the heat spreader.
  7. Place the heat spreader back in position and secure it with its four screws.
  8. Reinstall the bottom panel and secure it with screws.
Install a mini-PCIe module and SIM card for cellular connectivity
  1. Remove the bottom panel to access the two mini-PCIe sockets with SIM slots.
  2. If your module requires a SIM, push the SIM slot holder open and place the SIM card into the slot, then flip the holder closed and push it to lock the SIM in place.
  3. Insert the mini-PCIe module's gold-finger connector at a 45-degree angle into the socket.
  4. Gently press the module down and secure it with a screw.
  5. Clip the module's antenna cable onto the module (refer to the module's own manual for connection details).
  6. Remove an antenna cover from the enclosure, secure the SMA antenna connector, and attach the external SMA antenna.
  7. Reinstall the bottom panel.
Install a 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD
  1. Pull the lever on the front 2.5" hot-swappable tray to swing open the cover.
  2. With the label side facing upward, insert the SATA connector side of the 2.5" HDD/SSD into the slot first, and push firmly until fully seated.
  3. Push the lever back into the slot until it snaps into position. Use the key provided in the accessory box to lock the tray if desired.
  4. Repeat for the second tray if installing a second drive (required for RAID 0/1).
Wire the DC power input and chassis ground
  1. Confirm the DC source is within the 43V to 160V range accepted by the M12 K-coded input; supplying over 160V will damage the system.
  2. Connect the two V+ wires and two GND wires to the M12 K-coded connector according to the pin definition (pins 1 and 2 are GND, pins 3 and 4 are V+, PE pin for protective earth).
  3. Connect a ground wire (minimum 16AWG / greater than 1.0mm²) from the chassis grounding point to the ground, and loosen/tighten the earthing point screw as needed.
  4. Ensure the protection device for the power source can provide at least 8A and is connected to the source before power is applied.
Mount the GT-92RL-H using the rack-mount or wall-mount bracket
  1. For wall mounting: take the wall-mount bracket and M4 screws from the accessory box, attach the bracket to both sides of the system enclosure using the M4 screws, then place the system on a flat surface and secure it.
  2. For rack mounting: take the two rack-mount brackets, handles, and M3/M4 screws from the accessory box. Attach the rack-mount brackets to both sides of the enclosure using M4 screws, then attach the handles to the brackets using M3 screws.
