The ASMB-787 uses an Intel® LGA 1200 socket and supports Intel® Xeon® W-1270x/W-1290x processors as well as 10th Generation Core™ i3/i5/i7/i9 series processors (TDP up to 125W). The core logic chipset is Intel W480E.
The board has 4 DDR4 DIMM slots (dual channel) supporting DDR4 ECC/Non-ECC UDIMM at 2933/2666/2400 MHz, up to a maximum of 128 GB total. Supported module sizes are 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB. Note that ECC is not supported when paired with Core i5/i7/i9 processors.
There are 7 total PCI/PCIe slots: 2 x PCI, 1 x PCIe x16 (Gen3 x8 or x16 link), 2 x PCIe x4 (Gen3 x4 link), 1 x PCIe x8 (Gen3 x8 link), and 1 x PCIe x1.
The board provides 5 x SATA 3 (6 Gb/s) ports via the Intel W480E chipset with Intel Rapid Storage Technology support (Windows only), supporting software RAID 0, 1, 10 and 5. There is also 1 x M.2 2280/2242 connector supporting PCIe or SATA SSDs.
The board supports triple displays via DVI-D, VGA, and HDMI 2.0 ports. VGA and DVI-D support resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz, and HDMI supports up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz.

The ASMB-787 is an ATX form factor board with dimensions of 304.8 x 244 mm (12 x 9.6 in).
Both SKUs use the W480E chipset, DDR4 Non-ECC/ECC UDIMM memory, and VGA + DVI-D + HDMI display outputs, with 5 SATA III ports. The ASMB-787G2 has 2 x RJ-45 LAN ports and no IPMI. The ASMB-787G4 has 4 x RJ-45 LAN ports and includes IPMI support.
How-to Guides
- Locate the onboard M.2 connector, which supports M.2 2280/2242 form factors and is compatible with SATA or PCIe SSDs.
- Insert the M.2 module into the connector at an angle, matching the correct 2280 or 2242 mounting position.
- Secure the module with the appropriate screw for the selected form factor length.
- Connect the 24-pin SSI power connector to the board's main power input.
- Connect the 8-pin SSI 12V power connector to supply additional power to the CPU.
- Use the proprietary CPU cooler purchased from Advantech; other brands' CPU coolers may not be compatible with the ASMB-787.
- Identify the 2 x RS-232 serial port headers onboard.
- Use the included COM1 cable (or optional single/quad port RS-232 cable kits) to bring the serial signals to an external bracket.
- Connect your RS-232 serial device to the bracketed port.
