The board has 4 x 288-pin DIMM sockets supporting dual channel non-ECC DDR4 2400/2666/2933 memory, up to a maximum capacity of 128 GB.
The AIMB-787 provides triple display output: 1 x VGA (up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz), 1 x DVI-D (up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz), and 1 x DisplayPort (up to 4096 x 2304 @ 60 Hz).

The AIMB-787 is an ATX board measuring 304.8 x 244 mm (12" x 9.6"). It has 2 x PCI slots (32-bit/33 MHz), 4 x PCIe x4 slots (Gen 3, 3 with x4 link and 1 with x1 link), and 1 x PCIe x16 slot (Gen 3). Note: the AIMB-787 is not compatible with 1U chassis.

- Locate the M.2 slot on the AIMB-787, which supports a single M.2 2280 type module with M-key, PCIe x4 (Gen 3) interface.
- Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at an angle and press down gently.
- Secure the module with the appropriate screw to hold it flat against the board.
- Purchase and install the PCA-TPM-00B1E TPM 2.0 module, which is required to enable vPro and TPM functionality on the AIMB-787.
- Install the TPM module onto the corresponding header/slot on the board.
- Enable TPM and vPro settings in the BIOS as needed for your deployment.
- Purchase the AIMB-787's proprietary CPU cooler from Advantech (part number 1960052651N021), designed for 2U, 4U, and wallmount chassis.
- Do not use CPU coolers from other brands, as they are not compatible with the AIMB-787.
- Mount the cooler onto the LGA1200 socket following the cooler's mounting hardware.
- Choose a riser card compatible with your chassis and expansion needs: AIMB-R430P-03A2E (3 PCI slots), AIMB-R431F-21A1E (1 PCIe x16 & 1 PCIe x1), AIMB-R43PF-21A1E (1 PCIe x16 & 2 PCI), or AIMB-R4301-03A1E (1 PCIe x1).
- Install the riser card into the appropriate slot on the AIMB-787 in a compatible 2U or 4U chassis.
- Note that the AIMB-787 is not compatible with 1U chassis, so ensure your chassis supports the riser card height.
