Frequently Asked Questions

What processor and AI performance does the MIC-711-ON offer?

The MIC-711-ON is built around the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano module, which provides up to 40 TOPS of AI inference performance. It uses a 6-core Arm Cortex-A78AE v8.2 64-bit CPU with 1.5MB L2 + 4MB L3 cache. The GPU is an NVIDIA Ampere architecture GPU: the 8GB module version has 1024 cores with 32 Tensor Cores, and the 4GB module version has 512 cores with 16 Tensor Cores.

How much memory and storage does the MIC-711-ON support?

Two memory configurations are available: 8GB LPDDR5 (with the Orin Nano 8G module) or 4GB LPDDR5 (with the Orin Nano 4G module). For storage, it supports 1 x M.2 2280 (M-Key, NVMe, PCIe x4) and 1 x Micro SD card slot. Ordering options include a pre-installed 128GB NVMe drive with system BSP.

What I/O ports does the MIC-711-ON have?

The system includes:

  • 1 x 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet (GbE)
  • 1 x HDMI display output (max resolution 3840x2160 @ 60Hz)
  • External USB: 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 and 1 x USB 2.0
  • Internal: 1 x USB 2.0 via pin header
  • 1 x Micro USB port for OTG / system recovery
What expansion options does the MIC-711-ON provide?

The MIC-711-ON supports 1 x mPCIe slot (PCIe + USB 2.0 signal), 1 x M.2 3052 slot (B-Key, USB signal), and 2 x Nano SIM slots for cellular modules. It also has 1 x M.2 2280 (M-Key, NVMe, PCIe x4) used for storage.

What are the power input requirements for the MIC-711-ON?

The MIC-711-ON accepts a DC input voltage range of 9 to 36 V through a 2-pin terminal block (AT mode). An optional 65W 19V power adapter (100-240V input) and various region-specific power cords are available.

What is the operating temperature range and environmental rating of the MIC-711-ON?

The MIC-711-ON operates from -10 to 60 °C with 0.7 m/s airflow, and this rating depends on the installation situation and interface connections. Note that using a cellular LTE module may require derating the maximum operating temperature. It is also rated for 95% humidity at 40 °C (non-condensing), 3 Grms vibration (5-500 Hz, random, 1 hr/axis), and 10G/11ms shock.

What certifications does the MIC-711-ON carry?

The MIC-711-ON is certified to CB, UL, CE, FCC, BSMI, and CCC standards. Note that it does not carry RED certification.

What operating system / software support does the MIC-711-ON have?

The MIC-711-ON supports NVIDIA JetPack BSP version 5.1 or above.

What are the dimensions and weight of the MIC-711-ON?

The MIC-711-ON measures 130 x 130 x 46 mm (5.1\" x 5.1\" x 1.8\") and weighs 1.2 kg (2.65 lb). It is a fanless, ultra-compact design intended for desktop or wall mount installation.

What is the difference between the MIC-711-ON3A1 and MIC-711-ON2A1?

The MIC-711-ON3A1 uses the Orin Nano 8G module (8GB LPDDR5), while the MIC-711-ON2A1 uses the Orin Nano 4G module (4GB LPDDR5). Both come with a pre-installed 128GB NVMe drive with system BSP.

How-to Guides

Mount the MIC-711-ON
  1. Determine whether the unit will be installed as a desktop unit or wall-mounted, as both installation methods are supported.
  2. Use the supplied mounting bracket(s) and bracket screws to attach the unit to the desired surface for wall mount installation.
Wire the DC power input
  1. Confirm the power source supplies DC voltage within the 9 ~ 36 V input range.
  2. Connect the power source to the 2-pin terminal block connector (AT mode) supplied with the unit (part number 1652002202).
  3. Optionally, use the available 65W 19V power adapter (100-240V input) with a region-appropriate power cord (US, EU, UK, AU, Japan, or China variants are available).
Install an M.2 NVMe storage drive
  1. Locate the M.2 2280 (M-Key, NVMe, PCIe x4) slot inside the unit, used for storage expansion.
  2. Insert the M.2 2280 NVMe drive into the slot.
  3. Secure the drive using the supplied M.2 screw.
Install an mPCIe or M.2 3052 expansion module
  1. Locate the mPCIe slot (PCIe + USB 2.0 signal) or the M.2 3052 (B-Key, USB signal) slot inside the unit.
  2. Insert the desired expansion card (e.g. a cellular module) into the appropriate slot.
  3. Secure the card using the supplied Mini PCIe screw (for mPCIe cards).
  4. If installing a cellular module, insert a Nano SIM into one of the 2 available Nano SIM slots.
Recover the system via Micro USB
  1. Connect the included Micro USB cable to the Micro USB (OTG) port on the unit.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a host computer to perform system recovery.
