Frequently Asked Questions

What I/O ports does the MIC-711-OX have?

The MIC-711-OX provides 1 x Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps), 1 x HDMI video output (max resolution 3840x2160 @ 60Hz), 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1 and 1 x USB 2.0 externally, plus 1 x USB 2.0 internally via pin header. It also has 1 x Micro USB (OTG) for system recovery, 1 x Micro SD card slot, 1 x mPCIe slot (PCIe + USB 2.0 signal), 1 x M.2 3052 B-Key slot (USB signal), 1 x M.2 2280 M-Key slot (NVMe, PCIe x4), and 2 x Nano SIM slots.

What are the power input requirements?

The MIC-711-OX accepts 9 ~ 36 VDC input through a 2-pin terminal block in AT power mode. The unit must be supplied by a UL-certified power supply or DC source rated 9-36 VDC, 6-1.5A minimum, meeting SELV or ES1, suitable for use at a minimum Tmax of 50°C.

What is the operating temperature range and what certifications does it have?

The MIC-711-OX operates from -10 to 60 °C with 0.7 m/s air flow, and storage temperature is -40 to 70 °C. Operating humidity is rated at 95% @ 40 °C non-condensing. It carries CB, UL, CE, FCC, BSMI, and CCC certifications. Note: it does not have RED certification, and derating of max operating temperature is possible when using a cellular LTE module.

What storage and memory options are available?

The MIC-711-OX4A1 comes with a 16GB Jetson Orin NX module (LPDDR5 memory) and the MIC-711-OX3A1 comes with an 8GB Jetson Orin NX module. Both are shipped with a pre-installed 128GB NVMe SSD via the M.2 2280 slot. Additional storage can be added: the M.2 2280 slot supports PCIe x4 NVMe devices, and there is also a Micro SD card slot for removable storage.

What operating system / software is supported?

The MIC-711-OX ships with a pre-installed system BSP based on NVIDIA JetPack, version 5.1 or above.

What are the dimensions and mounting options for the MIC-711-OX?

The MIC-711-OX measures 130 x 130 x 46 mm (5.1\" x 5.1\" x 1.8\") and weighs approximately 1.2 kg (2.65 lb) per the datasheet (1 kg per the user manual). It is designed for desktop or wall mount installation using the included mounting brackets.

Does the MIC-711-OX support cellular or SIM-based connectivity?

The MIC-711-OX has 2 x Nano SIM slots: SIM1 is paired with the mPCIe slot and SIM2 is paired with the M.2 3052 slot, allowing use of a cellular module installed in either expansion slot. Note the unit has no RED certification, and using a cellular LTE module may require derating the maximum operating temperature.

What is the difference between the MIC-711-OX4A1 and MIC-711-OX3A1?

Both are part of the MIC-711-OX series built on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX module. The MIC-711-OX4A1 uses the 16GB Orin NX module (8-core CPU, 2MB L2 + 4MB L3 cache), while the MIC-711-OX3A1 uses the 8GB Orin NX module (6-core CPU, 1.5MB L2 + 4MB L3 cache). Both ship with a pre-installed 128GB NVMe SSD and the same system BSP.

How-to Guides

Install an M.2 NVMe SSD in the M.2 2280 slot
  1. Disconnect power from the unit before opening the enclosure.
  2. Locate the M.2 2280 slot, which supports PCIe x4 NVMe storage devices.
  3. Insert the M.2 NVMe module into the slot.
  4. Secure the module using the M.2 screw included in the accessory kit.
Install a Mini PCIe card
  1. Disconnect power from the unit before opening the enclosure.
  2. Locate the MiniPCIe slot (signal: PCIe x1 & USB 2.0).
  3. Insert the MiniPCIe card into the slot.
  4. Secure the card using the Mini PCIe screw included in the accessory kit.
Install a Nano SIM card
  1. Unplug the power source before installing a SIM card.
  2. Identify which slot corresponds to your installed expansion card: SIM1 is used with the MiniPCIe slot, SIM2 is used with the M.2 3052 slot.
  3. Insert the Nano SIM card into the appropriate slot.
Wire the DC power input
  1. Ensure this step is performed by a skilled/qualified person.
  2. Use copper conductors only, with an appropriate wire diameter (the terminal block is suitable for 14 AWG, torque value 4.5 lb-in).
  3. Connect a 9-36 VDC power source to the 2-pin terminal block connector.
  4. Set the AT/ATX jumper (PSON1) to the desired mode: pins 1-2 for AT, pins 2-3 for ATX.
  5. Connect the green-yellow Earth-Ground cable (16 AWG) from the chassis ground to other protective bonding.
Mount the MIC-711-OX using the wall-mount bracket
  1. Take the mounting kit (2x bracket, P/N 1960095312N003) from the accessory box.
  2. Secure the brackets to the unit using the 4x included screws (P/N 1930001241).
  3. Install the system on the wall using the mounted brackets.
