  • 1 x VGA (DB15) and 1 x DVI-D for display output
  • 2 x GigaLAN (RJ45) ports
  • 8 x USB 3.0 ports plus 1 x internal USB 2.0 header
  • 2 x DB9 serial ports configurable as RS-232/422/485 (with automatic flow control) and 2 x DB9 RS-232 ports; up to 4 more RS-232 ports (COM5/6) are available via an included expansion cable
  • 2 x audio jacks (1 x line-out, 1 x mic-in)
  • 1 x 4-pin power input connector (9~36 VDC)
What is the power input range and how much power does the MIC-7500 consume?

The MIC-7500 accepts 9 ~ 36 VDC input through a 4-pin Phoenix-style connector. Typical power consumption is 22.0 W and maximum is 51.1 W, depending on CPU model and configuration.

What is the operating temperature range and what certifications does the MIC-7500 have?

The MIC-7500 is rated for operation from -20 to 60 °C with 0.7 m/s airflow when equipped with an industrial wide-temp SSD (no expansion boards), or 0 ~ 50 °C when equipped with a 2.5" HDD. Storage temperature range is -40 ~ 85 °C. It carries CE, FCC Class A, CCC, and BSMI EMC certifications, and UL/CCC/BSMI safety certifications. It also has an IP40 dust-proof rating.

What storage and memory expansion options are available?

The MIC-7500 supports:

  • 1 x 2.5" HDD/SSD drive bay
  • 1 x CFast slot
  • 1 x mSATA (via one of the two Mini PCIe sockets)
  • 2 x 260-pin DDR4 SODIMM sockets, dual-channel DDR4-2133 (without ECC), up to 16 GB per socket / 32 GB total
  • 2 x Mini PCIe sockets (one supports USIM, the other supports mSATA)

RAID 0/1 is supported.

What operating systems are supported?

The MIC-7500 supports Windows 10, Windows 10 IoT, Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 7, and Linux OS. Note that the Intel Skylake platform used in this unit does not include a native USB 3.0 driver for Windows 7 — a SATA interface device (CD-ROM, CFast, or mSATA) is needed to install Windows 7, or contact your distributor for an Advantech Windows 7 image with USB 3.0 support.

What are the dimensions and weight of the MIC-7500, and how is it mounted?

The MIC-7500 measures 73 x 192 x 230 mm (2.91" x 7.55" x 9.05") and weighs 2.9 kg (6.39 lbs). It is designed for desktop or wall mount installation. Optional DIN rail and wall mounting kits are available.

How are the serial ports configured (RS-232 vs. RS-422/485)?

COM1 and COM2 support RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 with automatic flow control; the mode is set through BIOS. COM3 and COM4 are fixed RS-232. Two additional RS-232 ports (COM5/COM6) can be added using the included dual DB9 expansion cable, for a maximum of 6 serial ports.

Does the MIC-7500 have a watchdog timer?

Yes. The MIC-7500 includes a single-chip watchdog timer with a programmable interval of 1 to 255 seconds or 1 to 255 minutes, built into the Nuvoton NCT6106D Super I/O controller. It can be programmed to generate an interrupt or a system reset if software fails to reset the timer in time.

What CPU options are available for the MIC-7500 and how do the SKUs differ?

The MIC-7500 barebone is offered with five CPU options, each corresponding to a different part number: i7-6820EQ (MIC-7500B-U8B1), i7-6822EQ (MIC-7500B-U0B1), i5-6442EQ (MIC-7500B-S9B1), i3-6102E (MIC-7500B-19B1), and G3900E (MIC-7500B-U4B1). All SKUs share the same I/O, storage, and power specifications; only the CPU differs.

How-to Guides

Install or upgrade system memory
  1. Undo the 4 screws and remove the bottom cover.
  2. Undo 4 screws to remove the HDD tray.
  3. Undo 3 screws to remove the memory thermal cover.
  4. Affix a thermal pad (P/N: 1990019498N000) onto the memory module, then install the module into the SODIMM socket.
  5. Ensure the thermal pad and memory thermal cover completely cover and secure the memory before reassembling.

Use only compatible SODIMM modules (e.g. AQD-SD4U4GN21-SG, AQD-SD4U8GN21-SG, AQD-SD4U16N21-SE); non-compliant memory will prevent the system from booting.

Install a 2.5" HDD/SSD
  1. Undo 4 screws and remove the bottom cover.
  2. Undo 4 screws to remove the HDD tray.
  3. Secure the drive into the tray using 4 HDD screws (P/N: 1930002235).
  4. Connect the SATA cable and SATA power cable, then reinstall the HDD tray and secure it with 4 screws.
  5. Replace the bottom cover.
Install an mSATA or Mini-PCIe module
  1. Undo 4 screws and remove the bottom cover.
  2. Install the module into Mini-PCIe socket A (supports Mini PCIe signal & USIM) or install an mSATA module into Mini-PCIe socket B (supports Mini PCIe signal & mSATA), then secure with screws.
  3. Replace the bottom cover and secure with screws.
Wire the DC power input
  1. Use the supplied 4-pin Phoenix connector.
  2. Connect pin 1 to GND and pin 2 to the +9~36 VDC supply, as marked on the connector.
  3. Confirm the supply voltage is within the 9~36 VDC input range before powering on the unit.
