Frequently Asked Questions
The MIC-770 uses an Intel 8th Gen Core i CPU (LGA1151 socket) with either an Intel Q370 or H310 PCH, depending on SKU. It supports dual-channel DDR4 2133/2400/2666 MHz memory (without ECC) via two 260-pin SODIMM sockets, up to 32GB total (up to 16GB per socket).
The MIC-770Q uses the Q370 chipset and offers 2 x USB3.1, 6 x USB3.0, and 1 x internal USB 2.0, plus support for a Dual LAN module accessory. The MIC-770H uses the H310 chipset and offers 4 x USB3.0 and 4 x USB2.0. Both include 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 1 GbE port pair, and 2 COM ports standard, with PCIe/PCI expansion available via optional i-module.
The MIC-770 front panel includes: two 9-pin D-sub COM ports (COM1/COM2, supporting RS-232/422/485 with auto flow control), two RJ45 Ethernet ports (LAN1/LAN2), USB 3.1/3.0 ports (Q SKU) or USB2.0 ports (H SKU), a 15-pin D-sub VGA connector, an HDMI connector, Line-out and Mic-in audio jacks, a 4-pin power input header, and a power button with LED indicators.
Yes. The MIC-770 supports up to 6 serial ports total. COM1 and COM2 are standard RS-232/422/485 ports on the front panel. COM3 through COM6 are RS-232 only and are added via an optional DB9 cable included in the accessory box, connected internally to the motherboard.
The MIC-770 accepts DC power input through a 4-pin header, rated for 9VDC to 36VDC. The recommended minimum input is 12V (-25%) and maximum is 30V (+20%), with an absolute maximum rating range of 9V to 36V.
The MIC-770 operates from -10 to 40°C with a 65W CPU, or -10 to 50°C with a 35W CPU (at 0.7 m/sec air flow), when configured with one industrial SSD and no PCI expansion boards. Storage temperature range is -40 to 85°C. Relative humidity is rated at 95% at 40°C, non-condensing.
The MIC-770 is certified for safety under UL/CB, CCC, and BSMI, and for EMC under CE, FCC, CCC, and BSMI.
The MIC-770 supports one 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD drive bay. It also has two Mini PCIe slots: one supports a module via USIM, and the other supports mSATA (H SKU) or mini PCIe/mSATA (Q SKU). Additional PCIe/PCI expansion is available through optional i-module expansion modules (sold separately) offering various combinations of PCIe x16, PCIe x8, PCIe x4, and PCI slots.
Yes. The MIC-770 has a single-chip watchdog timer with 255 levels of interval timing, built into the Nuvoton NCT6106D Super I/O controller. It can be set from 1 to 255 seconds or 1 to 255 minutes, enabled/disabled by software, and configured to generate an interrupt or reset signal if not reset in time.
The manual documents driver installation for Windows 10 (64-bit). Advantech recommends installing drivers in this order: chipset, graphics, ME (Management Engine), then other drivers. Drivers are available on the Advantech support website by searching for the MIC-770 product.
