Frequently Asked Questions

What I/O ports does the Nuvo-2600 have?

The Nuvo-2600 provides:

  • 4x Gigabit Ethernet ports (RJ-45, screw-lock) via Intel® I210, supporting PoE+ (802.3at)
  • 1x USB 3.1 Gen1 (5 Gbps) port with screw-lock
  • 2x USB 2.0 ports with screw-lock
  • 1x DVI-I connector offering both DVI and VGA output (up to 1920x1080)
  • 1x isolated RS-485 port (COM1) with 15 kV ESD protection
  • 3x 3-wire RS-232 ports or 1x RS-422/485 port (COM2/3/4, software-configurable)
  • 1x 3.5 mm 4-pole audio jack for mic-in/speaker-out
  • 4-channel isolated digital input and 4-channel isolated digital output
What are the power input requirements for the Nuvo-2600?

The system accepts 8V to 35V wide-range DC input through a 3-pin pluggable terminal block, which also carries the optional ignition signal. Supplying more than 35V will damage the unit. Measured power consumption (12W CPU, 16GB RAM, 256GB SATA SSD, 100% CPU load) is about 32W at 35V, and up to 135W at 35V when all four PoE+ ports are fully loaded at 25.5W each.

What is the operating temperature range and what certifications does it carry?

The Nuvo-2600 operates from -25°C to 70°C and can be stored from -40°C to 85°C, with 10%~90% non-condensing humidity. It is rated for MIL-STD-810G vibration (Method 514.7, Category 4) and shock (Method 516.7, Procedure I), and is CE/FCC Class A compliant per EN 55032 & EN 55035. Note: for sub-zero or above-50°C ambient operation, a wide-temperature HDD or SSD is required.

What storage and memory options are supported?

The Nuvo-2600 supports up to 32GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM via one SO-DIMM socket. For storage, it has one internal M.2 2280 M-key slot (SATA signal only) for an SSD, plus one front-accessible 2.5" HDD/SSD tray (7-15mm height, up to 5TB capacity).

What operating systems and drivers are supported?

Due to Intel's driver policy, the Nuvo-2600 officially supports Windows 10 64-bit (Professional and IoT Enterprise editions). For Linux, Neousys has tested Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS with a 5.8 kernel; users may need to manually compile the Intel® I210 GbE driver if it is not built into the kernel. Neousys also provides a separate driver package for Watchdog Timer (WDT) control.

What are the dimensions, weight, and mounting options?

The Nuvo-2600 measures 205 mm (W) x 155/156 mm (D) x 86/86.15 mm (H). The Nuvo-2600E weighs 2.3 kg and the Nuvo-2600J (with SuperCAP UPS) weighs 2.5 kg. An optional wall-mount bracket kit is available.

Does the Nuvo-2600 support wireless or cellular connectivity?

Yes. The system has two full-size mini-PCIe sockets (one with PCIe + USB 2.0 signal, one with USB 2.0 signal only) for wireless modules such as WiFi, and one M.2 3042/3052 B-key socket with dual internal micro-SIM sockets to support 4G/5G mobile broadband modules. Antenna openings are provided on the front and rear panels.

What is the difference between the Nuvo-2600E and Nuvo-2600J?

The Nuvo-2600E includes a patented Cassette module with a PCIe x4 slot (2-lane PCIe 3.0) for installing a single-slot PCIe add-on card, such as a USB or GbE frame grabber. The Nuvo-2600J instead has an integrated 2500 watt-second SuperCAP UPS power backup module, but does not have the PCIe Cassette slot.

How much power can each PoE+ port deliver?

Each Gigabit PoE+ port is compliant with IEEE 802.3at PoE+ PSE and can deliver up to 25.5W to a connected powered device. The total PoE+ power budget across all ports is 100W. The ports are also backward compatible with 802.3af (PoE) devices.

How-to Guides

Install a DDR4 SO-DIMM Module
  1. Disassemble the system enclosure per the standard disassembly procedure, then remove the screws securing the heatsink.
  2. Remove the heatsink to expose the SO-DIMM memory slot on the motherboard.
  3. Insert the gold fingers of the memory module into the slot at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Push down on the edge of the module until the side clips engage and secure it in place.
  5. Reinstall the heatsink, system enclosure, or panel when done.
Install an M.2 2280 SATA SSD
  1. Disassemble the system enclosure per the standard disassembly procedure.
  2. Remove the screws indicated and remove the heatsink to access the M.2 slot.
  3. Insert the M.2 2280 module into the slot at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Gently press the module down and secure it with the provided M3 P-head screw.
  5. Reinstall the heatsink and the system enclosure or bottom panel when done.
Install a 2.5" Hard Drive or SSD
  1. Place the system on a flat, sturdy surface and turn the thumb screws on the front-accessible tray counter-clockwise.
  2. Gently pull out the 2.5" HDD/SSD tray.
  3. With the HDD/SSD label facing downward, secure the drive to the tray using the two screws provided on each side.
  4. Insert the tray back into the slot until you feel resistance.
  5. Tighten the thumb screws clockwise to secure the tray and complete the installation.
Install an M.2 3042/3052 B Key Module with SIM Card
  1. Disassemble the system enclosure per the standard disassembly procedure and remove the heatsink to access the M.2 B key and SIM card slots.
  2. Slide the metallic SIM cover in the indicated direction and lift it to expose the SIM socket.
  3. Place the micro-SIM card in the socket in the orientation shown, lower the cover, and slide it closed to secure the SIM.
  4. Insert the M.2 3042/3052 module into the slot at a 45-degree angle and secure it with the provided screw.
  5. Clip the IPEX-to-SMA cable onto the module and secure the antenna connector to an antenna opening on a side panel.
  6. Reinstall the system enclosure or bottom panel when done.
Wire the Ignition Power Control Signal
  1. Locate the 3-pin pluggable terminal block on the rear panel, which is shared for DC power and ignition signal input.
  2. Connect the vehicle Battery+ line (12V for sedan, 24V for bus/truck) to the V+ terminal.
  3. Connect the vehicle Battery-/GND line to the GND terminal.
  4. Connect the vehicle ACC line to the IGN terminal.
  5. Ensure the DC power source and IGN signal share the same ground. Do not exceed 35VDC on the IGN input or you may damage the system.
