The Nuvo-7164GC is specifically designed to support an NVIDIA® Tesla® P4 or T4 inference accelerator. The Tesla P4 delivers 5.5 TFLOPS in FP32, while the Tesla T4 delivers 8.1 TFLOPS in FP32 and 130 TOPs in INT8. The GPU installs into a single PCIe x16 slot @ Gen3 (16-lane signal) located inside the system's Cassette module.

What CPUs are supported and what is the maximum memory?

The Nuvo-7164GC supports Intel® 9th/8th Gen Coffee Lake 6-core LGA1151 CPUs (65W/35W TDP), including the Core i7-8700/8700T/9700E/9700TE, i5-8500/8500T/9500E/9500TE, and i3-8100/8100T/9100E/9100TE. Memory is supported up to 64GB via two DDR4 2666/2400 SODIMM slots.

What are the power input requirements for the Nuvo-7164GC?

The system accepts a wide-range 8~35VDC input via a 3-pin pluggable terminal block. This terminal block also accepts an ignition signal input for in-vehicle applications when an ignition control module is installed. A separate 3-pin terminal block is provided for remote on/off control and PWR LED output.

What is the operating temperature range of the Nuvo-7164GC?

With a 35W CPU, the operating temperature range is -25°C to 60°C. With a 65W CPU, it is -25°C to 60°C when configured in 35W TDP mode, or -25°C to 50°C when configured in 65W TDP mode. Note that in compliance with NVIDIA® Tesla T4 warranty policy, systems with a Tesla T4 installed require an operating temperature of 0°C to 50°C. Storage temperature is -40°C to 85°C, and sub-zero operation requires a wide-temperature HDD or SSD.

What certifications and environmental ratings does the Nuvo-7164GC carry?

The system is rated CE/FCC Class A per EN 55032 and EN 55035. It has been tested for vibration per MIL-STD-810G Method 514.6 Category 4, and shock per MIL-STD-810G Method 516.6 Procedure I, Table 516.6-II (operating conditions). Humidity rating is 10%~90% non-condensing.

What storage and expansion options does the Nuvo-7164GC support?

The system provides 2x internal SATA ports for 2.5" HDD/SSD (up to 15mm thickness) with RAID 0/1 support, 1x M.2 2280 M-key NVMe socket (PCIe Gen3 x4/SATA) for an NVMe/SATA SSD or Intel® Optane™ memory, and 1x full-size mSATA port (mux with mini-PCIe). It also has a full-size mini-PCIe socket with internal SIM socket, and an M.2 2242 B-key socket with dual front-accessible SIM sockets for 3G/4G modules.

Does the Nuvo-7164GC support cellular/wireless connectivity?

Yes. The system has an M.2 2242 B-key socket with dual front-accessible Micro-SIM (3FF) slots supporting dual SIM mode with a selected M.2 LTE module, plus a mini-PCIe socket with an internal SIM socket for 3G/4G modules. Dual SIM functionality is only available with the Sierra Wireless EM7455/7430 module; for other 4G modules, SIM slot 1 is the default functioning slot.

What operating systems are supported?

Neousys has tested the system with Microsoft Windows 10 (x64), Fedora 29, Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS, and Ubuntu 18.04.0 LTS. For other Linux distributions, the kernel should be upgraded to 4.15.18 or later. Some Linux distributions may have restrictions on features like triple independent display and RAID.

What mounting options are available for the Nuvo-7164GC?

The Nuvo-7164GC supports wall-mount (standard) or DIN-rail mounting (optional). System dimensions are 240mm (W) x 225mm (D) x 111mm (H), and the weight is 4.5 kg including CPU, GPU, memory, and HDD.

How-to Guides

Install the NVIDIA Tesla P4/T4 GPU into the Cassette Module
  1. Power off the system, disconnect all cables, and place it on a flat, sturdy surface.
  2. Turn the system upside-down and remove the four screws securing the Cassette module, then gently wiggle it free from the enclosure.
  3. Remove the screws to open the Cassette cover, then remove the cover and bezel cover(s).
  4. Remove the air tunnel (Nuvo-7164GC/7166GC) and bracket (Nuvo-7164GC only) by removing their screws.
  5. Remove the Tesla P4/T4 accelerator from its antistatic bag, insert it into the PCIe slot ensuring the bezel seats into the notch, and connect the fan's 4-pin connector to the PCB.
  6. Reinstall the air duct screws (and bracket screws for Nuvo-7164GC).
  7. Reinstall the Cassette cover and secure it.
  8. Lower the Cassette module back onto the system, pressing firmly to engage the PCIe slot, then secure with screws.
Install DDR4 SO-DIMM Memory
  1. Disassemble the system per the disassembly procedure to access the motherboard.
  2. Locate the two SO-DIMM memory slots on the motherboard.
  3. Insert the module's gold fingers into the slot at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Push down on the memory module until it clips into position.
  5. Repeat for the second module if installing two.
  6. Reinstall the system enclosure and panels when done.
Install an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD or Intel Optane Memory
  1. Refer to the disassembly procedure; you may not need to fully dismantle the system to access the M.2 slot.
  2. Insert the M.2 module into the slot at a 45-degree angle.
  3. Gently press the module down and secure it with an M2.5 P-head screw.
  4. Reinstall the system enclosure and panel when done.
  5. Refer to the Intel Optane Memory BIOS Setup and Driver Installation section if using Optane memory for hard drive acceleration.
Wire DC Power and Ignition Input
  1. Confirm the DC power source supplies within the 8~35VDC input range; supplying over 35V will damage the system.
  2. Connect the DC power leads to the 3-pin pluggable terminal block on the rear panel using the screw-clamping mechanism for a reliable connection.
  3. If using ignition control for in-vehicle applications (with a compatible ignition control module such as MezIO-V20-EP installed), connect the ignition signal (IGN) to the same terminal block.
Set Up RAID 0/1 in Legacy Mode
  1. Install at least two hard drives or SSDs, and back up all existing data before proceeding.
  2. Press F2 at boot to enter BIOS setup, go to Advanced > SATA And RST Configuration > SATA Mode Selection, and select 'Intel RST Premium With Intel Optane System Acceleration'.
  3. Go to Boot, select 'Legacy Boot Type', then press F10 to save and reboot.
  4. When the system reboots, press Ctrl+I to enter the RAID configuration utility.
  5. Select 'Create RAID Volume', enter a volume name, and choose RAID Level (RAID0 or RAID1).
  6. Select a Stripe Size (RAID0 only) and configure the desired capacity.
  7. Confirm the settings, select 'Create Volume', and enter 'Y' at the data-deletion warning to complete creation.
