Frequently Asked Questions

What network and video ports does the POC-351VTC have?

The POC-351VTC provides 3x Gigabit Ethernet ports via an Intel® I210 GbE controller. Two of these (port #2 and #3) support IEEE 802.3at PoE+. For video, it offers VGA and DVI dual display outputs via DVI-I. It also has 2x USB 3.1 ports and 2x USB 2.0 ports.

What serial and CAN bus ports are available for in-vehicle communication?

The unit has one software-programmable RS-232/422/485 port (COM1), and three 3-wire RS-232 ports (COM2/COM3/COM4) — with COM2 alternatively configurable as a single RS-422/485 port. It also includes one isolated CAN 2.0 port and 4-channel isolated DI plus 4-channel isolated DO for connecting other vehicle devices and sensors.

What are the power input requirements?

The POC-351VTC accepts 8V to 35V DC input through a 3-pin pluggable terminal block (IGN/GND/V+), with built-in ignition power control for automotive use. Optional accessory PA-60W-OW is a 60W AC/DC power adapter providing 12V, 5A DC output with cord-end terminals for the terminal block.

What is the operating temperature range and what certifications does the POC-351VTC have?

Standard operating temperature is -25°C to 70°C. An optional wide-temperature configuration extends this to -40°C to 70°C, though this requires a wide-temperature/industrial mSATA module and, for the extreme -40°C to 70°C option, 100% screening (contact Neousys). Storage temperature is -40°C to 85°C. The unit carries E-Mark certification for in-vehicle applications and CE/FCC Class A per EN 55032 & EN 55024.

What storage and RAM options does the POC-351VTC support?

Memory supports up to 8GB DDR3L-1866 via a single SODIMM slot. For storage, the unit has 1x half-size mSATA port and 1x full-size mSATA port. Expansion sockets include 1x M.2 B key socket (for 3G/4G with USIM support) and 3x full-size mini PCI Express sockets (also with USIM support). An aluminum heat-spreader helps dissipate heat from these modules.

Does the POC-351VTC support wireless, cellular, or GPS modules?

The unit has a total of four M.2/mPCIe sockets (1x M.2 B key, 3x mini PCIe) and six antenna holes to accommodate 4G, 3G, WIFI, and GPS modules. The POC-351VTC-70 variant additionally supports an optional LTE embedded socket modem (NSIO-LTE-7455, Cat. 6 LTE).

What are the dimensions and mounting options for the POC-351VTC?

The POC-351VTC measures 153 mm (W) x 108 mm (D) x 56 mm (H) and weighs 1.0 kg. The POC-351VTC-70 variant is slightly taller at 153 mm (W) x 108 mm (D) x 68 mm (H) and weighs 1.1 kg. Mounting is horizontal wall-mount as standard, with vertical wall-mount available as an option using the Wmkit-V-POC300 accessory kit.

What is the difference between POC-351VTC and POC-351VTC-70?

The POC-351VTC is described as an Intel® Apollo Lake Atom™ E3950 ultra-compact in-vehicle controller with 1x GbE, 2x PoE+ and isolated CAN. The POC-351VTC-70 has the same core description but additionally supports an optional LTE embedded socket modem, and has a taller chassis (68.4 mm vs 56.4 mm) and slightly higher weight (1.1 kg vs 1.0 kg).

How-to Guides

Wire the DC power input
  1. Locate the 3-pin pluggable terminal block on the unit labeled IGN, GND, and V+.
  2. Connect a DC power source rated between 8V and 35V to the terminal block, matching IGN, GND, and V+ connections.
  3. If using vehicle ignition power control, wire the IGN pin to the vehicle's ignition line so the unit can respond to ignition-based power control.
  4. Alternatively, use the optional PA-60W-OW 60W AC/DC power adapter (12V, 5A DC output) with cord-end terminals designed to fit the terminal block.
Mount the POC-351VTC
  1. Decide on orientation: the POC-351VTC supports horizontal wall-mount as the standard configuration.
  2. For vertical wall-mount installation, use the optional Wmkit-V-POC300 wall-mount assembly kit.
  3. Refer to the unit dimensions — 153 mm (W) x 108 mm (D) x 56 mm (H) for POC-351VTC, or 153 mm (W) x 108 mm (D) x 68 mm (H) for POC-351VTC-70 — when planning mounting clearance.
POC-351VTC is an ultra-compact, fanless in-vehicle controller powered by Intel® Apollo Lake Atom™ E3950 quad-core processor. It combines finesse performance, extraordinary reliability and affordability for versatile in-vehicle applications. POC-351VTC offers two PoE+ ports to power devices such as IP cameras, and one additional GbE port for data communication. It also features isolated CAN bus 2.0 port and RS-232/ 422/ 485 ports for communicating with other automotive devices.
