Frequently Asked Questions

What Ethernet ports does the Nuvo-9000E/P/DE have?

The Nuvo-9002E/P/DE models have 1x 2.5G Ethernet port (Intel I226-IT/I225-IT) and 1x Gigabit Ethernet port (Intel I219-LM). The Nuvo-9006E/P/DE models have 5x 2.5G Ethernet ports and 1x Gigabit Ethernet port. All ports use screw-lock connectors. An optional IEEE 802.3at PoE+ PSE configuration is available for Port 3 ~ Port 6 (2.5GbE), with a 100W total power budget when paired with the 35W CPU.

What USB ports are available?

The system provides 1x USB 3.2 Gen2x2 (20 Gbps) port in a type-C connector, 4x USB 3.2 Gen2x1 (10 Gbps) type-A ports, 2x USB 3.2 Gen1x1 (5 Gbps) type-A ports, and 2x USB 2.0 ports.

What are the power input requirements?

The system accepts 8 to 48V DC input via a 3-pin pluggable terminal block. UL-certified series models use a 3-pin pluggable terminal block for 24V DC input. A separate 3-pin pluggable terminal block is provided for remote control and PWR LED output (Ctrl_In/GND/LED_Out).

What is the operating temperature range?

The Nuvo-9000E/P/DE is rated for -25°C to 70°C fanless operation. When configured with a 65W TDP CPU, the operating temperature range is limited to -25°C to 50°C, and thermal throttling may occur under sustained full load; the CPU power mode can be adjusted in BIOS to allow a higher operating temperature. For sub-zero operation, a wide-temperature HDD or SSD is required. Note that for 2.5G Ethernet link speeds, operating temperature must be limited to 60°C due to the I225-IT chipset specification.

What certifications does the system have?

The system is EMC certified to CE/FCC Class A per EN 55032 and EN 55035, and meets UL 62368-1/IEC 62368-1 safety standards (UL series only). It also passes MIL-STD-810H Method 514.8 Category 4 vibration testing and MIL-STD-810H Method 516.8 Procedure I shock testing.

What storage and memory expansion options are supported?

The system supports up to 64GB DDR5 4800 SDRAM across two SODIMM slots. Storage options include 2x internal SATA ports for 2.5" HDD/SSD (supporting RAID 0/1) on the Nuvo-9000E/9000P/9000DE, and 1x M.2 2280 M key NVMe socket (PCIe Gen4x4) supporting NVMe SSD read/write speeds up to 7000 MB/s. A full-size mini PCI Express socket and an M.2 2242/3052 B key socket with SIM slot (for 5G/4G modules) are also provided.

What display outputs are available?

The system provides three independent display outputs from integrated graphics: 1x VGA (up to 1920x1200), 1x DVI-D (up to 1920x1200), and 1x DisplayPort (up to 4096x2304, described elsewhere as supporting 4K2K resolution).

What is the difference between the Nuvo-9000E, Nuvo-9000P, and Nuvo-9000DE?

These models differ in their expansion Cassette: the Nuvo-9000E features a single x16 Gen3 PCIe slot, the Nuvo-9000P has a single PCI slot, and the Nuvo-9000DE has dual x16 Gen3 PCIe slots. The Nuvo-9000DE is also taller (110.5mm) than the Nuvo-9000E/P (90mm) and weighs more (3.89 kg vs 3.58 kg).

What serial ports are available?

The system has 2x software-programmable RS-232/422/485 ports (COM1/COM2) and 2x RS-232 ports (COM3/COM4).

Can the system be mounted on a DIN rail?

Yes. Wall-mount is the standard mounting method, and DIN-rail mounting is available as an optional accessory (DINRAIL-O).

How-to Guides

Install an M.2 NVMe SSD
  1. Locate the M.2 2280 M key NVMe socket (PCIe Gen4x4) inside the system.
  2. Insert a compatible NVMe SSD into the M.2 M key socket.
  3. Secure the SSD in place per the socket's mounting screw.

Note: The datasheet does not provide detailed disassembly steps; consult the full user manual for chassis opening instructions.

Install SODIMM Memory
  1. Access the two SODIMM slots inside the chassis.
  2. Install DDR5 4800 SODIMM modules, up to 64GB total.

Note: The datasheet does not detail the chassis-opening procedure; consult the full user manual for step-by-step disassembly instructions.

Wire the DC Power Input
  1. Identify the 3-pin pluggable terminal block for DC input, rated 8 to 48V DC (or 24V DC on UL series).
  2. Connect the DC power source wires to the terminal block according to the labeled pin assignments.
  3. If using an optional power adapter, select the PA-160W-OW (recommended for 35W CPU) or PA-280W-ET2 (recommended for 65W CPU or 35W CPU with PoE+ option).
Mount the System on a DIN Rail
  1. Obtain the optional DINRAIL-O DIN-rail mount assembly.
  2. Attach the DIN-rail mount assembly to the system chassis in place of the standard wall-mount configuration.
  3. Secure the system onto the DIN rail.
Add an Expansion Card via the Cassette
  1. Determine your Cassette type: the Nuvo-9000E provides a single x16 Gen3 PCIe slot, the Nuvo-9000P provides a single PCI slot, and the Nuvo-9000DE provides dual x16 Gen3 PCIe slots.
  2. Open the Cassette module and insert the compatible PCIe or PCI add-on card into the slot.
  3. Reassemble the Cassette and reinstall it into the chassis.

Nuvo-9000 series is Neousys’ new rugged embedded computer based on Intel 12/13th-Gen platforms. Benefiting from cutting-edge Intel 7 photolithography, the latest Core™ desktop processor comes with up to 16 cores and 24 threads and presents an incredible boost of computational performance. Combining the increase of DDR5 memory bandwidth and PCIe Gen4 NVMe high-speed disk read/write, users can expect an overall system performance improvement of up to 1.8x when compared to previous 10th or 11th-Gen platforms.

Nuvo-9000 series inherits Neousys’ patented expansion Cassette design to provide great versatility by allowing additional installation of PCIe or PCI add-on cards. There are three expansion Cassette options available for Nuvo-9000 series, the Nuvo-9000E features a single x16 Gen3 PCIe slot; Nuvo-9000DE has dual x16 PCIe slots, and Nuvo-9000P has a single PCI slot. For users who need more flexible storage, Nuvo-9000LP has a 2.5” HDD tray instead of an expansion Cassette to support a hot-swappable 2.5” HDD/SSD.

I/O functions are also comprehensively enhanced. In addition to six 2,5G and Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE+ PSE option, Nuvo-9000 series features a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 type-C port offering 20 Gbps bandwidth for data exchange with external devices, plus another six USB 3.2 type-A ports for USB3 camera connectivity. It also has an upgraded M.2 Gen4x4 slot to support the latest NVMe SSD to boost disk read/write speed up to 7000 MB/s. For unfulfilled I/O requirements, users can utilize the expansion Cassette to add on function-specific PCIe/ PCI card, the proprietary MezIO interface, and internal mini-PCIe/M.2 interfaces. With its field-proven thermal design, significant CPU and I/O upgrades, and multiple expansion methods, the Neousys Nuvo-9000 series fits your need for ruggedness, performance, and versatility for a variety of applications.
