Choose the correct cable for your desired network speed

For 10GBASE-T operation, use CAT 6a cable for runs up to 100 meters, or CAT 6 cable for runs up to 55 meters.
For 5 Gbps NBASE-T operation, use CAT 6 cable for runs up to 100 meters.
For 2.5 Gbps NBASE-T operation, use CAT 5e cable for runs up to 100 meters.

Power a PoE+ device from the PCIe-PoE550X

Connect a CAT 6a cable from a card port to the PoE+ powered device (e.g. a camera or access point).
Ensure the host system can supply the additional power budget: up to 51W total is required when powering PoE+ devices, on top of the 11.5W needed for standard 10 GbE operation.
Use the per-port PoE+ power on/off control via API to enable power delivery to the connected device as needed, since each port can deliver up to 25.5W under IEEE 802.3at.
